The Sanctuary Staff and Leadership would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the area churches who have reached out to us in the form of counseling, childcare, love, and encouragement. We are overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and support. You all truly represent the Body of Christ, and we cannot begin to express what your ministry has done for our hurting and grieving church.
As one of the hurting church members I would like to echo Joe’s “thank you”. It was a tangible reminder today that God is much bigger than any situation and that His body is truly one body, though we may worship at different churches.
Pastors Joe and Jimmy,
The music and the message yesterday were truly inspired by God. Joe, I would love for you to publish your message online for those who were not able to be there. I have tried to tell others about it, but, of course, could not remember everything you said.
I was honored to be at your church yesterday to pray with your members. I was encouraged at the leadership you exhibited. I will continue to pray for you and your church family and the Young family.
My group of ladies (Merry Ministries) stand ready to help in any way we can.
God bless,
Mary Willis
the service was exactly what I needed to begin the process of trying to understand and then leaving it at the foot of the cross. Perhaps God does not want me to understand this, just listen to him
Pastor Joe and Jimmy…. Thank you for your words yesterday! You’re so right that Jesus has not come back for us and that Thomas tragically left us. We do still have a purpose! It is not for us to understand the details…. Only that our Saviour remains on the throne and will be glorified in everything! For in our weakness…. His strength is made perfect…. Thank you and Love to the Sanctuary Fellowship!
Dear Young family & Sanctuary Church family -
Since I learned last night of your sorrow, I have prayed for and had a heavy heart for you all. May God hold Erin tight and let her know His presence. May God be with your leaders to hear His voice and know the right direction. May each of you see God’s hand in your lives and through situation. Many people around the world are praying for you and know that God is in total control.
It was so precious of so many of you from sister churches to join us yesterday. Thank you so much for this wonderful reminder that we are one body in Christ. We love you so much. Pastors Joe and Jimmy and also Matt-thank you for your leadership. You are awesome, and in our prayers. The coming weeks will be a challenge, but God will get us all through it together. God and our Saviour will be glorified!
Thomas Young assisted us with a Kelly Green Crusade in Rockdale County, Georgia in October of 1999. He was instrumental in helping us reach into the high schools of our county and promote a Pizza Night that drew a huge crowd. Later that evening over 300 students committed their lives to Christ, and we were counseling and baptizing them late into the night. For weeks after the meeting we were following up on the harvest. He was a bundle of energy and encouragement, and he was a blessing to me and my family. I am grateful to have known this special man, and my wife and I are praying for Erin, the children and the Sanctuary during these days.
Pastor Thomas — I miss him — My son Ryan misses him. My heart aches – it aches because of the loss I feel, the loss my son feels, the loss our church body feels and the deep deep loss that Thomas’s family must feel. My heart aches for Erin and his children Morgan, Graham and Claudia especially. My prayers are going up continually for his family. My son really loved Thomas so much… Thomas was his mentor.
What comes to my mind the most about Thomas is that when my son who is 11 now got baptized. Thomas wanted to make sure that Ryan understood what being baptized meant – se he met Ryan and I at Star Bucks in Rosenberg. He talked to Ryan in a soft gentle – man to man – brother to brother tone questioning why he wanted to get baptized and what he thought it meant. Ryan told Thomas – I just feel like God is telling me to get baptized and Thomas told Ryan that he couldn’t argue with that because God was talking. Thomas then went on to explain baptism in detail to Ryan. That was a wonderful day – Ryan’s talk with Thomas and then the following Sunday in 2008 when Ryan was baptized in the Cinemark. I miss meeting in the Cinemark and will remember the last couple of years at the Sanctuary as life sustaining and life changing. May God Bless us all – and keep us safe in His Care and His Will.
Thomas was so passionate – about the gospel – and he could open up the word and expound on it so well. He inspired and motivated me to live my faith with his preaching. My heart aches so much and I know that so very very many others hearts ache too. I honestly don’t know how to process what has happened – but I know that God is Faithful and True and will see us through. Nahum 1:7 – The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in Him. The Lord is our Sanctuary.
Several years ago Thomas came to our church in Bryant, AR and led us in a very intense and spiritual time with our Lord. Our people still speak of this week at Indian Springs. I will always be thankful for being with Thomas and watching how God used him to minister to our church, schools, and community. A REAL guy! Our prayers are with his family and church.
as a pastor’s daughter, people don’t realize how much pressure pastors’ families are under. They often feel isolated because they have so few people that they can share with. Remember that Thomas is now in the presence of God and totally forgiven and at peace. We are all left with a lot of questions that quite possible only The Father may be able to answer one day! God bless you all and please keep the faith.
We are praying for Thomas’s family and your church during this difficult time.

It was my joy to be with you at The Sanctuary from River Pointe Church on Sunday. It was amazing to see the area churches come together. What unity we have in Christ! My daughters & I love the Young family. Joe, Jimmy & Matt… you did an outstanding job leading your church during this tough time. May Christ continued to be glorified.
